The health scene in Egypt and Africa
In light of the increasing importance of artificial intelligence globally, it is seen as a strategic tool to improve the quality of health care in Egypt and Africa, especially in remote areas deprived of advanced medical infrastructure. Therefore, the organizers emphasized that the integration of artificial intelligence opens new horizons for achieving health independence on the entire continent.
Artificial intelligence is also a catalyst for achieving the third goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), by improving the quality of services and reducing gaps in health distribution, and it also intersects with the fourth goal (Quality Education) by promoting scientific research and training in the digital health field.
Therefore, this year’s edition was marked by the launch of a special pavilion for artificial intelligence, considered the first of its kind in the history of the exhibition, as it showcases the most prominent innovations and the latest applications that employ artificial intelligence in diagnosis, treatment, and health systems management.
Through this axis – the axis of artificial intelligence in the medical field – Egypt seeks to consolidate its position on the map of health digital transformation, by supporting joint research, training, and establishing partnerships with international technological institutions. This enhances Africa’s ability to face current and future health challenges.
Towards a sustainable African health system
Statements by the head of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Purchasing, Medical Logistics and Supply, and the Medical Technology Department – Dr. Hesham Steit – indicate that this year’s conference places a special priority on African health integration, by creating new partnerships between countries and enhancing their capabilities in manufacturing medicine and supplies locally. In order to reduce dependence on imports.
Stitt stressed that achieving health sovereignty in Africa requires solidarity between governments, the private sector, and regional and international organizations, noting that Africa has the competencies and resources that qualify it to achieve this goal, if it has political will and fair financing.
In turn, the Executive Director of the exhibition, Kamal Obaid, pointed out that “Africa Health ExCon” has become a strategic platform to make Egypt an African medical bridge and a regional center for innovation and pharmaceutical manufacturing, drawing attention to the fact that this year’s edition witnesses unprecedented institutional participation.
This momentum came after the remarkable success achieved by the third edition of “Africa Health 2024”, which was held under the slogan “Your Gateway to Innovation and Trade”, with the participation of 48,000 healthcare professionals from 142 countries, more than 360 senior officials and decision-makers, and 350 exhibitors, in addition to 32 scientific conferences, 264 sessions and 1,410 speakers. From this standpoint,Earth Guardsbelieves that health security is the cornerstone of any real development project, and that justice in health care cannot be achieved unless the world makes health and its axis a necessity and an inherent right. Because it is a long-term investment in stability and human dignity.
