To talk in more detail about the national initiative for smart green projects; Mrs. Dr. Reham Farouk – Chair of the Board of Directors ofEarth Guards magazine was a guest of Ambassador Hisham Badr, General Coordinator of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects. To exchange conversations about ways of cooperation between the magazine and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, and how the efforts made by both parties can be strengthened to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in light of the national agenda “Egypt Vision 2030”.

The meeting began with Badr’s appreciation for the efforts made by Homat Al-Earth magazine, and after that he spoke with enthusiasm and passion about the mechanism of the initiative’s work, and its desired goal, as he pointed out that the initiative targets all governorates of Egypt with a number of innovative projects, which can provide solutions not only to the problems facing society currently, but also to what may arise in the future.

After that, Badr praised the important achievements achieved by the initiative in its first phase in the form of a number of innovative projects, which work to achieve several goals, including: localizing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), addressing climate problems at the national level, and building the capabilities of cadres in various parts of the country, as 18 projects won out of 162 projects submitted to the initiative in its six axes.

Regarding the second session of the initiative – which continues until next September – the ambassador indicated that there are a large number of projects submitted; This reflects the great interaction and interest in the initiative, stressing the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development’s determination to continue the sessions of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, in an effort to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on the ground in our beloved country.

Badr also reviewed the initiative’s efforts to build the capabilities of participants, through organizing and holding seminars and workshops in various governorates, whether physically or online, in addition to many partnerships at the local and international levels, which also work to raise the capabilities of participants in the initiative.

The meeting also discussed how cooperation between the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the Earth Guards Magazine can be crystallized in the form of a cooperation protocol, which can contribute significantly to better coordination to maximize the efforts made by both parties.

For her part, the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Earth Guards magazine welcomed the cooperation with the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, noting the consistency of the initiative’s objectives with the magazine’s own agenda, which aims to spread awareness of sustainable development and support the green economy.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Hisham Badr stressed that this initiative represents a true reflection of Egyptian leadership in Africa and the Middle East in the file of sustainable development and environmental preservation, which means that this initiative represents a successful experience that the brothers around us can learn from and apply in their countries, especially in light of the serious climate challenges the world is going through that threaten all components of life.
