President Sisi participates in the launch of the activities of the Egypt International Energy Conference “EGYPS 2026”

The global energy sector is witnessing major transformations, with an increasing focus on developing traditional and new energy sources, and enhancing cooperation between countries to meet supply challenges and achieve sustainability. Therefore, all countries seek to innovate flexible and effective solutions, ensuring economic growth and stability of energy markets, while taking advantage of modern technology to enhance production and improve consumption efficiency.

In this context, Egypt stands out as one of the important hubs in the Middle East and North Africa region, through its continuous efforts in developing the energy sector, supporting investments, and strengthening partnerships with sisterly and neighboring countries. Cairo is also working to diversify energy sources, develop infrastructure, and expand joint projects, which contributes to enhancing energy security at the regional and international levels.

Egypt International Energy Conference and Exhibition “EGYPS 2026”

In order to enhance Egypt’s pioneering role in the region, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participated this morning in the launch of the activities of the Egypt International Energy Conference and Exhibition “EGYPS 2026” in its ninth edition, which was held during the period from March 30 to April 1, 2026, in the presence of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and Engineer Karim Badawy, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

The conference also enjoyed a high-level international presence, led by Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus, leaders of major international companies operating in the fields of energy and related technological solutions, and a number of ministers and senior state officials.

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the program of the opening ceremony began with the showing of a documentary film about the Egypt International Energy Conference and Exhibition “EGYPS 2026”, and then Mr. President listened to the speech of Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

In addition to showing a documentary film about the vision of a number of heads of international oil and gas companies regarding cooperation with and investment in Egypt, then a recorded speech was listened to by Mr. Jassim Al-Badawi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, followed by a speech by Mrs. Dita Goul, Director General of Energy at the European Commission.

The conference highlights the role of strengthening regional and international partnerships, in line with the seventeenth goal: establishing partnerships to achieve goals, and the ninth goal, which encourages innovation and infrastructure development in the energy sector.

International cooperation and energy sector stability

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, added that Mr. President welcomed his Cypriot counterpart and the attendees, noting that the Egypt International Energy Conference has become a global platform for dialogue about the future of this vital sector, which represents a basic pillar of the global economy.

He also pointed out the importance of the existing cooperation between Egypt and major energy companies, valuing the partnerships extended over the past years despite the global challenges that affected energy flows andSupply chains.

The President explained that the stability of the energy sector requires continuity of work without interruption, given that restoring production rates takes a long time, stressing the strength of relations with Cyprus and the European Union in the field of energy, while noting the efforts made to link Cypriot production fields to the global market through Egyptian infrastructure, thus enhancing opportunities for regional cooperation.

Cooperation with major energy companies and the European Union reflects Egypt’s keenness to support sustainable economic growth and enhance the efficiency of energy infrastructure, thus contributing to achieving sustainable energy security.

Moving production and strengthening partnerships in the energy sector

In this context, Mr. President called on companies operating in the energy field to intensify their efforts to increase production, including the expansion of renewable energy sources, in a way that contributes to supporting the stability of the sector and meeting the increasing demand for energy.

In the same context, the Cypriot President stressed the strength of relations with Egypt, praising joint cooperation, especially in the energy sector, in addition to emphasizing the importance of energy as a basic pillar of the partnership with the European Union.

The events also witnessed the presentation of models of joint cooperation between Egypt and Cyprus, followed by the signing of a framework agreement for cooperation in the field of natural gas, which reflects a practical trend towards deepening the partnership between the two countries in various energy fields. It also highlights the importance of regional integration in exploiting resources and maximizing benefit from the available infrastructure.

This approach is consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially the seventh goal on clean energy, and the seventeenth goal on international partnerships, as international cooperation and the expansion of renewable energy sources represent a fundamental pillar to ensure the sustainability of the sector.

Strategic cooperation and a shared vision for regional coordination

On the other hand, the two presidents opened the exhibition and inspected a number of its pavilions, which included major international entities and companies, reflecting the diversity of international partnerships and the breadth of cooperation in the energy sector. This was also preceded by bilateral discussions that confirmed the strength of relations between the two countries, as the Egyptian side expressed its aspiration to advance these relations to the level of strategic partnership, in proportion to the volume of existing cooperation and continuous coordination in various regional and international forums.
