It is an international day that the peoples of the world use to support strategies for empowering women everywhere, which makes it one of the steps to enhance their rights – socially, economically and culturally – to ensure the implementation of the aspirations and hopes of all parts of society.

As for the heroine of this article, she is Dr. Rania Al-Mashat “Minister of International Cooperation”, whom we are honoring for the second year in a row, and we will highlight her achievements and efforts during the past year; She has many international experiences and was the first Minister of Tourism and Antiquities in the history of Egypt. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat’s more than 20 years of experience was nothing but rich and multi-directional in the field of central banking and setting monetary policy frameworks, until she reached her local and global efforts in the field of finance.Climate, which is considered the most prominent file in recent years.

In her capacity as Minister of International Cooperation, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat became Egypt’s icon and its soft power in global financial institutions such as the World Bank Group, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and other institutions that regulate the world’s financial policies.

The success of Dr. Rania Al-Mashat’s career worldwide was the result of years and years of perseverance and diligence, not only on the practical side, but also on the scientific side. She obtained a master’s degree and a doctorate in economics from the American University of Maryland, after which she became an assistant professor in economics at the American University – Cairo, in addition to many articles and studies in many important economic newspapers.

Dr. Rania Al-Mashat has written several chapters in a bookThe International Monetary Fund, which was titled: “Developing the Limits of Monetary Policy,” and was published in 2008. Then she wrote the book “Engaging Stakeholders through Economic Diplomacy,” which was published by the London School of Economics in June 2021.

Dr. Rania Al-Mashat also won a number of awards, such as the “International Leadership Award for Effective Contribution to the Global Tourism Industry” in 2019, and before that – in 2015 – she was chosen among the most powerful women in the Egyptian banking sector, and among the top 50 influential women in the Egyptian economy.

The most important achievement of Dr. Rania Al-Mashat – Minister of International Cooperation – was the launch of the “National Platform for Green Projects – Novi Programme”, which aimed to mobilize large investments; In order to implement 9 projects in the field of mitigation and adaptation to climate change in all sectors; To become these effortsdevelopment as a reflection of the National Climate Change Strategy 2050, as well as Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Dr. Rania Al-Mashat was able to make the “Novi” program a bridge to achieving the goals ofsustainable development, as the program came as a national axis linking water, food, and energy projects, in addition to sustainable transportation projects. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat’s professional career – locally, regionally and internationally – continues to motivate and inspire women around the world, especially the women of Egypt, and her career is considered a reference for Arab women from the Ocean to the Gulf.
