These achievements also reflect the state’s ability todevelop health infrastructure, qualify medical personnel, and use the latest global technologies, which contributes to building a healthy and productive society, and enhances sustainability in the health sector, and puts Egypt on the path towards achieving Long-term development goals.
This is what was achieved in practice; The General Authority for Health Care – headed by Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki – announced the success of its hospitals within Ismailia Governorate in performing more than 135,000 surgical interventions since the start of implementing the comprehensive health insurance system, through 7 affiliated hospitals, in accordance with the highest international medical standards, and with high success rates.

Concerning this, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Health Care, confirmed that this achievement reflects the widespread development witnessed by surgical services within the Authority’s facilities in the governorate, whether in terms of the diversity of operations, the complexity of cases, or the quality of therapeutic results.
The head of the General Authority for Health Care explained that the operations included a wide range of advanced medical interventions, including:
- General Surgery
- Orthopedics
- Heart surgeries

Affordable health services
The head of the authority stressed that the comprehensive health insurance system provides real financial protection for citizens, as the beneficiary only bears 482 pounds, regardless of the actual cost of the operation, which may exceed – in some cases – one million Egyptian pounds!
With regard to the distribution of surgical operations, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki explained that the Ismailia Medical Complex received more than 80,000 operations, followed by the June 30 Center with more than 15,000 operations, the Abu Khalifa Emergency Hospital with more than 20,000 operations, Al-Qassasin Hospital with more than 7,000 operations, in addition to the Qantara Hospitals – East and West – with a total of approximately 2,500 operations, and all of this was carried out since the beginning of the operation. Operation.

In summary, the completion of this huge number of surgical operations within one governorate reflects a structural shift in the philosophy of providing health care in Egypt, from a model that relies on individuals shouldering the financial burdens to a solidarity model that places citizen health at the heart of public policies.
The Ismailia Medical experience also reveals that investing in medical infrastructure and training cadres are two development levers capable of reducing geographical and social gaps in access to health services, and achieving a higher degree of health equity.
For all of this,The Earth Guards Foundationsees that the success of the comprehensive health insurance system in providing complex surgeries at a nominal cost to citizens represents a practical model of integration between the social and economic dimensions associated with the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
