Civil Aviation participates in the Green Hydrogen Forum to promote the future of sustainable aviation
Egypt is closely following the accelerating global transformations towardsthe green economy, in which green hydrogen emerges as one of the most important drivers for reshaping the future of the energy and transportation sector globally, as well as one of the pivotal solutions to reduce carbon emissions, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and enhance the efficiency of resource use, in line with international trends towards more sustainable production and consumption systems.
This trend comes at the heart of the Egyptian state’s priorities within its strategic vision for the transition towards a green economy, by expanding reliance on clean energy sources, and enhancing sustainability applications in various sectors, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially with regard to climate action, clean energy, and strengthening international partnerships supporting development paths.
Green Hydrogen Forum in Egypt 2026
In this context, Dr. Sameh El-Hefny, Minister of Civil Aviation, participated in the activities of the Green Hydrogen Forum in Egypt 2026, which was organized by the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Egypt) in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), within the Egyptian-German Green Hydrogen Partnership (GH2P), in the presence of a number of international officials and experts and representatives of the aviation, energy and maritime transport sectors.
During his participation in the high-level session entitled: “Fueling the Future – Green Hydrogen for Maritime and Aviation Fuels,” the Minister stressed that Egypt’s participation in this event reflects the country’s commitment to supporting international efforts to reduce carbon emissions, and expanding the application of more sustainable operating systems, in line with the goals of sustainable development and the objectives of Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Reducing the carbon footprint of the aviation sector
Green hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) represent one of the main axes for the future of the global transportation industry, and the state’s strategy is based on reducing the carbon footprint of the aviation sector through the gradual expansion of the use of sustainable fuels, and increasing reliance on clean energy sources within Egyptian airports, in line with Goal (7) concerned with providing clean and affordable energy and Goal (13) concerned with climate action.

The Minister of Civil Aviation indicated that the sector is witnessing advanced implementation steps in this field, including the expansion of the use of solar energy in a number of airports, in addition to coordination with the Ministries of Petroleum, Mineral Resources, Electricity, and Renewable Energy to encourage investment in the production of sustainable aviation fuel, in a way that supports the localization of this industry, the transfer of modern technology, and the strengthening of national capabilities. These efforts are consistent with the goals of sustainable development, especially Goal (11) Sustainable Cities and Local Communities, and Goal (16) Peace, Justice, and Institutions. Strong.
He stressed that the civil aviation sector continues its efforts to support the transition towards green aviation, through expanding environmental sustainability projects, and studying the establishment of a new factory to produce sustainable aviation fuel, which reflects the state’s trend towards adopting more efficient and sustainable solutions in the air transport industry.
Egypt is a regional center for green hydrogen production
The Minister added that Egypt has strong capabilities that qualify it to become a regional center for the production of green hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuel, in light of its distinguished geographical location, advanced infrastructure and promising natural resources, stressing the country’s commitment to implementing environmental standards issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and working to attract more international investments and partnerships in clean energy and sustainable fuel projects.
The Minister of Civil Aviation concluded his statements by stressing that the green transformation in the Egyptian civil aviation sector has become a strategic path implemented by the Egyptian state with practical steps, through developing infrastructure, expanding international cooperation, and supporting sustainable fuel projects, in a way that enhances Egypt’s position as a regional center for low-emission aviation.

In conclusion, this institutional movement within the Egyptian civil aviation sector reflects a clear transition from the stage of adopting sustainability concepts to the stage of integrating them to be a structural element in operating policies and long-term planning.
Dealing with green hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuel has become part of an executive vision in which energy considerations intersect with requirements for operational efficiency and international competitiveness, in a global context that redefines performance standards in the aviation industry, and this participation shows that the green transformation has become an economic and strategic path that reshapes the position of countries within the global aviation and energy value chains.
Hence,The Earth Guards Foundation confirms that the projects and trends being proposed within this framework indicate an attempt to build a new regional positioning based on clean technology, and the ability to produce and localize knowledge, in a way that supports the achievement of comprehensive Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and consolidates Egypt’s active presence in the regional low-emission aviation equation. And internationally.
