For the conference of the second edition of the African Regional Forum on Climate Action Financing
Next Monday will witness the holding of the “Second Edition of the African Regional Forum on Climate Action Financing” in the city of Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. In preparation for this conference, a preparatory meeting will be held entitled: “Towards the African Regional Forum and the Twenty-eighth Conference of the Parties (COP): Opening the door to financing flows to African climate projects through innovative financing,” in which high-level regional officials will participate, led by Dr. Climate COP27″.
This second edition of the African Regional Forum comes within the “Five Regional Climate Finance Forums” initiative, which is the initiative organized by the Egyptian and Emirati presidencies of the twenty-seventh and twenty-eighth Conferences of the Parties, and these two presidencies are with the participation of the United Nations regional committees, as well as with the participation of climate leaders.

It is expected that the objectives of this preparatory meeting will be limited to activating and financing measures to adapt to multiple climate changes, as well as accelerating work to reduce harmful emissions on the African continent, and then discussing climate-related initiatives. This is done by mobilizing the necessary funds from the public and private sectors. So that the countries of the continent can implement investable climate projects that have African priorities, taking into account the goals of the Paris Agreement in particular and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in general.
It is worth noting that Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin’s participation in this meeting comes as a reflection of the extent of the Egyptian state’s interest in climate action and ways to reform it. This meeting also comes on the sidelines of the “CEO Forum in Africa,” which is a meeting that will include a number of leaders of governments, the business sector, and civil society, both African and international. Desiring to prepare for the conference of the second edition of the African Regional Forum for Financing Climate Action, so that the African continent comes closer to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
