For the sake of quality education…an Egyptian-Italian agreement to establish new applied technology schools

The education sector constitutes a cornerstone and a fundamental pillar of comprehensivesustainable development, and for this reason Egypt is striving with all its efforts to develop the education sector, by attracting international investments that contribute to the advancement of Egyptian technical education in particular as it is a basis for building a strong economy based on knowledge and productivity in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.

In this context, Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received his Italian counterpart, Dr. Giuseppe Valditara, Italian Minister of Education and Merit, to sign a number of cooperation protocols between Egypt and Italy. To establish 89 new applied technology schools in various specializations between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, a number of local authorities, and a number of major Italian academies and technical institutes.

This step constitutes a jewel milestone for enhancing Egyptian-Italian cooperation and activating the memorandum of understanding signed in 2024, and the letters of intent signed in February 2025, and this is a testimony to the wonderful cooperation between the two countries.

High-ranking Egyptian presence

Dr. Giuseppe Valditara, Italian Minister of Education and Merit, greeted the Egyptian officials present, headed by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, and thanked him for his tireless efforts that helped achieve this wonderful cooperation.

 He also greeted Mr. Alaa El-Din Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Engineer Mohamed Shimi, Minister of Public Business Sector, and Dr. Hani Sweilem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation.

Egypt and Italy share a common vision of the importance of the pivotal role played by investments in the technical and vocational education sector in advancing economic and social development and technological progress, by strengthening educational systems capable of providing young people with skills and competencies that are compatible with the requirements of the labor market.

The Minister of Education and Technical Education stressed that these partnerships represent bridges of cultural and economic communication between the two countries, consolidate the values of cooperation, and open new horizons for a more prosperous common future.

He also appreciated the vital role of the Egyptian private sector as a key partner in supporting the development of technical education and applied technology, expressing his aspiration to enhance the Italian private sector’s participation in establishing schools of technical education and applied technology, in a way that contributes to supporting the national industry, increasing the competitiveness of the Egyptian product, providing qualified labor, and bringing it to global levels that serve society in all its categories, thus contributing to achieving comprehensive sustainable development.

Coordination between technical schools and private sector companies

The link between these two educational and technical tracks makes the provision of innovative and specialized programs that suit the requirements and needs of the labor market possible. The main advantage of these two tracks is the provision of educational activities supervised by professional cadres in the corporate sectors and specialized professions, which qualifies them to transfer their expertise and experience to students and teach them the skills and competencies required in the labor market, which achieves integration between the requirements of the labor market and technical education, so that school education becomes in line with the company’s vision, The company becomes a place of education similar to the school.

The signed protocol includes various fields of education

The protocol also includes various fields of education: such as mechatronics (an engineering field that integrates mechanics, electronics, and computers to create intelligent systems and machines such as robots and smart devices), in addition to the textile industry, health, agriculture, food industry, and other important fields. It is very necessary to establish this type of higher technical schools in Egypt, as establishing such technical institutes means bringing expertise in managing Italian companies whose experience we will share with young people here in Egypt, given the important role of youth.
